1958 REDS TEAM
The 1958 team issue is fairly easy to identify. For the 1958 season the reds wore white sleeveless uniforms with white caps. the following seven years the reds wore sleeveless white pinstriped uniforms. The few cards I have show the same two backs as the 1957 cards. As you can see some of these cards have a white background, rather unusual for these cards.

Ted Kluszewski did not play for the Reds in 1958. This card had to have been made before he was traded in December of 1957 to Pittsburgh for Dee Fondy, the Reds first baseman for 1958.

1959-1960 REDS TEAMS
There was a lot of overlap between the 1959 and 1960 teams issues so they have been combined as one set by those who have been doing this much longer than I have. Many of these images are of cards I do not possess, but from what I understand from now on the backs of these cards will be like the one shown and so unless I come across something different I will cease showing the backs. All cards from now on will show the players in pinstriped uniforms. Since all the cards between 1959 and 1966 are basically identical it is extremely difficult to determine what year the card belongs to. I will be helped by 10 year old and incomplete check lists that I have acquired and I am attempting to get updated versions. If and when I do some of these cards may be moved around. The 1959 issue is also the year the team went back to being known as the Cincinnati Reds. Remember that cards with a * next to it means I do not have that card. (Yet).

The Jay Hook image is not a postcard. It is a real photograph put out by the Cincinnati Reds but it is an exact copy of what the postcard looks like.

1961 REDS TEAM
I have managed to obtain a Reds envelope
containing the complete collection of Reds postcards with the exception of two
or three.
For some reason the Reds experimented with stamped
autographs in blue and black on the 1961 issues. I have one of these cards and
you will see the back of the Jerry Lynch card as a sample. In addition to the
stamped autograph Jerry actually did sign the card also. This card is dated
December of 1962 so it is obvious Jerry either had more of the 1961 postcards
made or he had some left over in 1962. The stamped autograph practice was not continued after this
issue, so any real photo cards you see with a stamped autograph you know it is a 1961
issue.

Ray Shore was the Reds batting practice pitcher from 1961 to 1962 before being promoted to a full time coach in 1963. Otis Douglas was a professional football player and coach before becoming a consultant for the Reds coaching staff in 1961 and 1962.

The photograph above is of the 1963 Reds on opening day. Pete Rose is the center figure stepping on the field for the first time. Number of hits = 0.
In 1963 the Cincinnati Reds sent out a complete set of postcards showing all the team members playing at that time. All these card were stamped on the back with the name and address of the original owner. It is not a complete set. The Blank Backed cards are not part of set in the envelope.

I believe the Dick Sisler cards for 62 & 63 are reversed. All the cards in the 1963 set have the same name & address stamped on the back (Shrewsbury) as does the 1962 card (the one above did not come with this set). Right now I have them the way the list shows them as being.
