1939 Reds Orcajo Team

   In 1939 Dayton photographer Orcajo produced a set of the 1939 Cincinnati Reds team. There are at least 4 varieties of this 29 card set, one with just the name of the player on the card which seems to be the most common. The next, slightly rarer, version has the following on the front:  Courtesy of  Val Decker Packing Co. "Piquality"  Brand Meats. The last two have advertisements for Metropolitan Clothing and the rarest ones of all, WHIO Radio (I have not even seen any of these cards). I have so far obtained some of the first two types, plus some images of the third type.

   The Kiddo Davis card is a non-listed entry. He was released from the Reds in August of 1938 so he obviously does not belong with the 1939 team but, as you can see in the lower left is the Val Decker Meats info.

   The Alex Kampouris card is another card showing a Red that was traded in June 1938 but if you look very closely you can barely see the Val Decker Meats in the lower left corner.
